Extreme Planets

Presented May 16 & 23, June 20 & 27 and July 18 at 8:30 p.m.

Just over a decade ago there were no known planets orbiting sun-like stars outside our own solar system. In recent years, however, fast-paced developments in astronomy have revealed hundreds of extrasolar planets—with the pace of discovery increasing all the time. Though it may be years before we have direct images of the surfaces of these worlds, this show gives us an idea of what they might look like—up close and personal! Narrated by René Auberjonois of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, this program explores the idea of what "Earth-like" really means, and takes audiences on an immersive journey to worlds that may stretch the imagination, but aren't science fiction anymore.
