This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning drama is part of August
Wilson’s 10-play “Pittsburgh Cycle” that traces the African-American
experience in the 20th century. The story centers on Troy Maxson,
a former baseball star in the Negro Leagues who is now a garbage
collector with diminished dreams. As he struggles to hold on to his
dignity and his family, Troy puts up fences between himself and those
he most wants to protect—his wife, son and best friend, who all see the
world through different, more optimistic eyes.
Recommended for mature audiences only due to strong language and adult themes
