Alice Hirt and Jo Bearse Endowed Art Exhibition to Open at Young Harris College Campus Gate Art Gallery
Exhibit Features YHC Alumnus and Visual Storyteller Craig Ford, ‘81

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Campus Gate Art Gallery (CGAG) at Young Harris College is proud to welcome post-modern painter Craig Ford, ’81, for the annual Alice Hirt and Jo Bearse Endowed Art Exhibition. The exhibit will open Thursday, Nov. 3, with a reception at 6 p.m. in the gallery, and will be on display through Thursday, Nov. 24. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

Ford’s element of “visual storytelling” is key in the artwork he creates—big, vividly colored pieces that often include seemingly unrelated segments—yet soon becomes clear that he is not experimenting. He begins with a concept, then works on the composition.

After graduating from YHC, Ford continued his education at the University of Georgia where he majored in graphic design and illustration. He went on to work as a designer/illustrator and art director for several agencies before starting his own graphic design business, Design by Ford, in 1999. It wasn’t until 2005 that Ford returned to painting. Additionally, he teaches drawing and painting classes at the Roswell Visual Arts Center.

For more information about Ford’s work, visit artsicle.com/Craig-Ford.

The CGAG is located at 5149 College Street on the YHC campus. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, contact the CGAG at (706) 379-5114 or campusgate@yhc.edu.
