U.S. Congressman Doug Collins Visits Young Harris College with North Georgia Network Representatives

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – U.S. Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) recently visited Young Harris College along with North Georgia Network President and CEO Paul Belk and Vice President of Market and Member Services Michael Foor. YHC President Cathy Cox shared with the group an overview of the College as well as the recent successes of students enrolled in Young Harris Early College.

YHC recently developed the new Young Harris Early College to offer Move On When Ready (MOWR), Georgia’s new dual-enrollment program, courses to local and state-wide high school students.

“I was pleased to share with Rep. Collins the success of our Young Harris Early College program,” said President Cox. “We’re proud of our partnership with the North Georgia Network, who works to provide seamless high-speed, fiber-optic technology so we can deliver synchronous courses directly to the classrooms of our local high schools.”

The MOWR program allows high school students to earn college credit while working towards their high school diploma, and completely covers the cost of tuition, mandatory fees, and required textbooks.

“It was great to be with my friend, President Cathy Cox,” said Rep. Collins. “Young Harris is an amazing college doing amazing things. Through their work with the North Georgia Network and with local schools and communities, Young Harris is building a legacy of positive influence beyond their campus and throughout North Georgia.”
