YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College’s Theatre Young Harris recently presented “The Woodsmen and the Fairy” as its annual children’s show for the 2016-2017 season. The show was sponsored by the Fred Register Endowment for Children’s Theatre at YHC.

Six daytime performances were presented for approximately 3,000 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades from area schools, including Towns, Union, Gilmer, Habersham and White counties in Georgia, and Clay and Cherokee counties in North Carolina. The run also included a free public performance for community members on Sept. 17.

“I had never actually heard of ‘The Woodsman and the Fairy’ before I was cast for this production, but I really enjoyed the story because of the moral behind it,” said Todd who played Jim. “But, for me, the greatest memory from this show was bringing to life the story for all of the kids, adults, and everyone else that came to see it!”

The Fred Register Endowment for Children’s Theatre was established in 1979 by Annie Mae Paris Register in honor of her husband’s memory. The endowment pays for all costs associated with the College’s annual children’s production that provides a source of entertainment and cultural enrichment for elementary school children from Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
