Young Harris College to Present Percussion Ensemble Concert
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Young Harris College Percussion Ensemble will present a concert on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Building on the YHC campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Directed by Adjunct Instructor of Music Dr. Jillian Baxter, the group is comprised of exceptionally talented students currently studying percussion instruments. The ensemble will perform a variety of solo and ensemble literature written for a myriad of percussive instruments such as xylophone, marimba, vibes, tympani, and more.
Two students will be featured as soloists during the concert. Junior music education major Nathaniel Arnold of Young Harris, Ga., will be featured during “Frogs” by Japanese composer Keiko Abe, and junior music major Patricia Gallagher of Jasper, Ga., will be featured during “Air” by American composer G.D. Peters. Dr. Baxter will be featured as a soloist during “White Knuckle Stroll” by American percussionist Casey Cangelosi.
