Young Harris College Ranked by LendEDU for College with Lowest Student Debt

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College was recently named to LendEDU’s list for colleges with the lowest student loan debt per borrower. YHC is ranked 221 out of more than 1,300 colleges and universities across America.

According to LendEDU, students at YHC borrow less in student loans than the overall average for the state of Georgia. YHC is also ranked fifth in the state for lowest student debt per borrower, ranking higher than many private and public institutions in Georgia.

“In other words, we found that Young Harris College is giving students a very low amount of student debt at graduation,” said LendEDU’s Tom Flynn. “You all are doing an excellent job helping students avoid student debt.”

LendEDU is an online marketplace for student loans and loan refinancing. They use the newest licensed Peterson’s financial aid data to analyze the current student-debt levels of those who graduated from college in 2015.

YHC’s high ranking on the list for schools with students who have the lowest debt is due in large part to the Colleges’ ability to provide students with financial scholarship. More than 90 percent of students at YHC receive some form of scholarship or grant, which helps alleviate the amount that families must pay—and students must borrow—to cover the cost of tuition.

Since 2014, LendEDU has delivered free financial aid resources to high school and college students. “Our team put in over 50 hours aggregating and analyzing this data,” said LendEDU CEO/Co-Founder Nate Matherson. “Student debt is an important issue. We hope our report and rankings help students and families make educated decisions when it comes to student debt.”
