Young Harris College Recognized for Offering Extraordinary Value and Upperclassman Aid

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.. – Young Harris College was recently selected out of nearly 8,000 postsecondary schools as the recipient of a Best Value School Award. The award is issued by University Research and Review (URR), an organization dedicated to improving the process of how a student selects a postsecondary school.

“It is our distinguished pleasure to present the award to Young Harris College,” said URR Founder Joseph Schmoke. “We hope that current students and alumni take pride in this honor, and anyone searching for a quality, reasonably priced college education strongly considers YHC.”

The committee that reviewed the nominees is comprised of former university presidents, CEOs, provosts and professors. The committee chose YHC after the College passed through rigorous standards including a combination of cost, accreditation, variety and quality of academic programs, and student satisfaction with the institution.

“Our committee prided itself on combining our extensive experience, knowledge of postsecondary education and insight into what provides students with good value when selecting a ‘Best Value’ award recipient,” said Schmoke.

Young Harris College was also recently listed in Student Loan Report’s “Top 250 Private Colleges that Offer Upperclassmen the Most Financial Aid.”

After analyzing thousands of schools in the United States, Student Loan Report ranked YHC at number 176 among the top 250. These schools were evaluated based on average financial aid awarded to need-based juniors and average financial aid awarded to need-based seniors.

“We are proud that we are able to offer 90 percent of our students some form of financial aid or scholarship,” said YHC President Cathy Cox. “Thanks to the generous support of YHC alumni and friends, the burden of the cost of college is significantly reduced for our students.”
