Division of Humanities

Now offering a Bachelor of Arts in English

The Division of Humanities offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in English and the Associate of Arts degree with concentrations in liberal arts or religious studies.  The courses taught in Humanities provide a strong general education for students transferring to senior colleges and universities.

The Associate of Arts degree is designed to provide a general education - an essential element in preparation for employment and life.  It contains the core curriculum for students who plan to transfer to a senior college or university to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree and is the suggested program for those students who will major in criminal justice, foreign language, history, journalism, mathematics, political science, pre-law, psychology, sociology and many other academic disciplines.

The Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Religious Studies is designed specifically for pre-ministerial students and others whose primary academic interest is in religion and/or philosophy.  Students interested in ordained ministry or church-related vocations who follow this track will satisfy both the broad liberal arts foundation required and certain specialized subjects expected of an undergraduate religion major.
