Dr. Lumpkin received her B.A. in psychology from Case-Western Reserve University and her M.Ed. in vocational rehabilitation counseling from Auburn University.  She received her Ph.D. in instructional technology from Georgia State University. She taught technology integration for educators as well as courses in digital literacy at Georgia State University.

Dr.  Lumpkin is currently past-president of the Culture, Learning and Technology (CLT) Division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). In addition, Dr. Lumpkin is the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL).
