Assistant Professor of Theatre and Costume Design
Originally from western New York, Ms. Kiker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Television Arts from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. Upon completion of her undergraduate work, Ms. Kiker earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Costume Design and Technology from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.
After completing her MFA, Ms. Kiker spent 7 years teaching costume design at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. In this capacity, she also designed costumes for each of the university's mainstage productions.
Ms. Kiker joined the faculty at Young Harris College in 2013, after a brief time spent in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she worked as a freelance designer as well as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Southern Mississippi. Since coming to YHC, Ms. Kiker has developed new classes for the Department of Theatre, as well as designed costumes for each of the College's mainstage productions. Several of those designs have received merit awards for excellence in design through the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival in this region.
Abby lives in Blairsville, and enjoys the mountain scenery of north Georgia.
