Mr. Bauman has been the Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Young Harris College since 1992. He directs the College Choir and the Chamber Choir, teaches applied voice and conducting and serves as music director for the musical theatre program. Mr. Bauman has Bachelor of Arts degrees in music education and music performance from Spring Arbor University and Master of Music degrees in choral conducting performance and vocal performance from Bowling Green State University. As a choral conductor, Mr. Bauman is in demand as an adjudicator and clinician, regularly working with school music programs and directing high school honor choirs throughout the state. He is proud to be conducting the Young Harris College Choir in Prague, Munich and Vienna this spring as part of the group's 2011 European Tour.
His choral compositions and arrangements have been heard at GMEA events, ACDA conventions and in churches, and are frequently performed by the Young Harris College choral groups. A former NATS winner, Mr. Bauman has performed leading roles in opera and musical theatre with Opera South Carolina, Atlanta Lyric Theater, Toledo Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera and Opera Lenawee. Orchestral appearances include performances with the Jackson Symphony and the Cleveland (OH) Chamber Orchestra. In addition to his YHC responsibilities, Mr. Bauman is the Director of Music at the First United Methodist Church of Union County.
