Adjunct Instructor of Music
Simon Wildman is entering his second year of the doctor of musical arts program at the University of Georgia. He holds a master's of music education degree from Ohio University. He completed one year of a master's degree in tuba performance at Penn State University. He holds a bachelor's degree in tuba performance from West Virginia University. His primary teachers were David McCollum, Velvet Brown, Jason Smith and David Zerkel.
In June 2012, Wildman won first prize in the International Tuba Euphonium Conference Competition in the Artist division, performing Roland Szentpali’s Concerto for Tuba with the Bruckner University Symphony Orchestra. In May 2012, he won second prize at the prestigious Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition. Recently he was a finalist and semi-finalist, respectively, in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Bands’ tuba auditions. He has won both UGA and OU Concerto competitions, performing Bozza’s Concertino and Vaughan Williams’s Concerto for Bass Tuba, respectively. In 2009, he won the substitute/extra tuba audition for the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Simon was also a finalist and semi-finalist, respectively, for the Youngstown and New Jersey Symphony Orchestras' principal tuba positions.
