Dr. Lawrence joined the faculty at Young Harris College in 2004. She specializes in American literature. Her research interests include multiethnic literatures and storytelling. She has co-authored two textbooks on composition for college writers as well as an article on pedagogy. She teaches courses on a variety of subjects, including ethnic American literature, American Realism and Naturalism, illness and health in world literature, and the oral tradition. When not reading, writing, and teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Lawrence received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and a minor in Music from Georgia Southern University, a Master of Arts in English from Southern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Tennessee.
