Physical Science/Geography Courses

107 Physical Geography I - 4 semester hours
A study of the fundamental elements of weather and climate. The distribution of and variations in temperature, pressure, winds, and precipitation will be analyzed and used in the study of storms, climates, and air pollution. Topics in global warming and energy resources will be examined in detail. Three hours of lecture and two hours of laboratory per week. (Designed primarily for non-science majors.)

108 Physical Geography II - 4 semester hours
An introduction to physical geology. Plate tectonic theory, gradational processes, landform classification, and the study of rocks and minerals will be included. Topics in global warming and energy resources will be examined in detail. Three hours of lecture and two hours of laboratory per week. (Designed primarily for non-science majors.)

Bobby Nichols joined Young Harris College in Fall of 2007. He is a graduate of Young Harris College (A.S. 1982 with honors), Davidson College (B.S. 1986, Honors in Physics) and Washington University in St. Louis (M.A. Physics 1988, Ph.D. Physics 1992).  (See also Curriculum Vitae and publications.)
