Associate of Science Degree - Outdoor Education Concentration

Young Harris College has the great fortune of being located in the Appalachian Mountains, nestled between the Nantahala and Chattahoochee National forests. The access to premiere rivers, trails and rock faces is immediate. Young Harris College, with its unique mountain setting coupled with a long standing tradition of academic excellence and a commitment to the liberal arts, offers the Associate of Science Degree with an Outdoor Education Concentration. Courses explore the theoretical, historical and philosophical foundations of outdoor education, while providing direct and purposeful experiences that utilize the wilderness areas surrounding the College. This foundational degree prepares a student to earn a four year degree in Outdoor Education, Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education, Parks and Recreation Management, or a similar field of study, at a four year senior college or university.
