The Berry Outdoor Education Center

The Berry Outdoor Education Center (OEC) is named in honor of Irene Hackney Berry and was given to the College as a part of the estate of Irene Hackney Berry. The OEC encompasses a fully renovated and modernized historical home on the front of campus. The OEC serves as the home base for Outdoor Education classrooms, offices, equipment storage, programming and services. The OEC also incorporates a large green space behind the house which includes a Helix Climbing and Rappel Tower in addition to a low challenge course. 

Young Harris College seeks to optimize student learning and community development by providing this unique physical space on campus. Students enjoy and celebrate a space of their own that allows them to study, recreate and gather.
