Dr. Stearns joined the faculty at Young Harris College in 2005.  His areas of expertise are 20th Century American Cultural History; Film History; and Modern (Post-1500) Middle East.  His interest in film history earned him a European Film Archives Travel Grant in 2016 to visit the major film archives in London, Paris, and Rome.  For his exceptional teaching, Dr. Stearns was awarded the Vulcan Teaching Award.

Dr. Stearns earned a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University (1981), a Masters of Art from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville (1984) and a PhD in History from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville (2005).
