Debut Band Concert

Inaugural Band Concert to be held at Young Harris College

Cathy Cox, president of Young Harris College, invites concert band enthusiasts to attend the debut performance of the Young Harris Concert Band, to be held Saturday, October 20, at 8:00 p.m. in the Hilda D. Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Building.  This performance, open to the public, is free of charge.

Mr. Alan Denmon will conduct the concert band, which will consist of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.  The concert band is open to students from all degree programs.

Friends of the Arts, a patron society at Young Harris College designed to assist in supporting performing arts at the College, assists in supporting the concert band program. Interested parties will have an opportunity to join the society prior to the performance.

The primary mission of Friends of the Arts is to promote awareness and quality in the fine and performing arts. Financial endorsement through membership in the society allows the division of fine arts to explore new and previously unfunded endeavors. Most importantly, the membership supports the College’s efforts to provide superior opportunities for students to grow and learn in an environment of uncompromised artistic and academic freedom with integrity.

Founded in 1886, Young Harris College is a private, core liberal arts college focused on university preparation.  Historically affiliated with The United Methodist Church, a primary goal of Young Harris College is to provide a quality education for the whole person: intellectually, socially, culturally, and spiritually.  To learn more about Young Harris College, visit us at www.yhc.edu.
