Jane Goodall Speaks at Young Harris College
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – On Thursday evening, Feb. 18, Jane Goodall, Ph.D., DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, spoke to an enthusiastic crowd at Young Harris College about her renowned work with chimpanzees in Africa and her continued work with the Jane Goodall Institute that empowers people to make a difference for all living things.
YHC students, faculty and staff, many local citizens, and Goodall admirers from beyond the local communities filled Glenn Auditorium to capacity to hear Dr. Goodall’s inspiring and empowering message of hope and peace. Dr. Goodall applauded Young Harris College for its campus-wide efforts to promote sustainability and green choices and encouraged those in attendance to think about the kind of impact each person makes every day.
Pictured above with her familiar mascot, "Mr. H," Dr. Goodall proudly displays her new Young Harris College Roots and Shoots T-shirt, a gift from YHC’s student chapter of Roots and Shoots, a global program of the Jane Goodall Institute for youth that is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment.
Following the lecture, Dr. Goodall took a variety of questions from the audience, then signed hundreds of books for many attendees.
