Getting Connected
Connecting to the YHC Network
Getting Help:
Information Technology will offer help sessions at the beginning of each semester to help students configure their computers for network access. In addition, students can call or stop the Information Technology helpdesk to obtain assistance.
Minimum System Requirements:

Windows:
Windows XP - 256MB RAM minimum | 1GB recommended
Vista - 1GB RAM minimum | 2GB recommended
Windows 7 - 1GB RAM minimum | 2GB recommended

Macintosh:
Mac OS X operating system

10/100 Network Interface Card and/or 802.11b/g Wireless Network Card (NOTE: wireless coverage is not guaranteed)

200MB of available hard drive space for college provided network access software and antivirus software

Students will be required to have a supported antivirus product installed on their personal computer before being able to connect to the YHC network. All of our supported antivirus products are free to download and use.

Students will be required to go through a process known as Cisco NAC (formerly known as Clean Access) to certify their computer has the latest operating system patches and the college provided antivirus installed.

All file-sharing software must be removed from the computer (i.e. Gnutella, Limewire, etc.). IMPORTANT: File-sharing software is not allowed at any time while connected to YHC network.

File Storage:
Many classes require you to keep your work in a folder on the YHC campus network. Students can access their file storage by logging into any campus maintained computer, such as the computers in the library and computer labs with your username and password. Please be aware that all files are subject to deletion at the end of each semester.
Wireless Access :

YHC offers wireless access in most indoor and outdoor areas of campus. Information Technology will assist student with configuring their computer to connect to the YHC wireless network.
