Accel Program

The Accel program is administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. Qualified students can earn college and high school credit as dual credit students.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Accel Program at YHC a student must:

*Be certified by their high school as eligible for Accel funds and participation in the program
*Be enrolled in a Georgia high school
*Be classified as a junior or senior, or be at least 16 years of age
*Meet admissions requirements

 Admissions Requirements 
Students must have a 3.0 academic GPA and a minimum of 970 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT. The academic GPA is calculated on a true 4.0 scale by Young Harris College. It is not a translation of the cumulative average calculated by the high school.

To apply students must submit the following:

*An Application for Admission to YHC
*Official high school transcript
*SAT or ACT scores
*An Accel Agreement signed by the student and parent (see link below)
*An Accel Planning Sheet signed by the high school counselor (see link below)

 Timeline
*Take SAT/ACT in the fall for admission the next fall
*Apply in February or March to start the following August
*Take SAT/ACT in the spring for January admission
