There are four steps to apply for aid at YHC.
1. APPLY TO YHC
Complete the YHC Admission Application. Scholarship and financial aid awards are made only after a student has been officially accepted. All freshmen admitted to Young Harris College are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships.
2. Complete FAFSA
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We suggest that you complete your tax return as soon as possible and complete the FAFSA online. Our school code is 001604. The FAFSA determines eligibility for need-based grants, work-study and need-based loans. Filing the FAFSA is an annual process and must be renewed each year. We recommend that students apply early because most need-based funding is limited. The FAFSA for the upcoming academic year will be available after January 1 of each year. All forms and supporting documentation (if requested) should be completed by May 1 in order to receive priority consideration for federal, state and institutional funds. The student and at least one parent will need a Personal Identification Number (PIN) in order to complete the FAFSA online. You can apply for your PIN ahead of time so you will have it when you begin your FAFSA. Keep your PIN in a safe place as it will be used each year when you apply.
3. Apply for GTEG, Zell Miller and HOPE scholarship (GEORGIA RESIDENTS ONLY)
Georgia residents must complete the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant and Zell Miller/HOPE Application online at GACollege411.org. The Zell Miller Scholarship pays $4,000 per academic year ($2,000 per semester), HOPE Scholarship pays $3,600 per academic year ($1,800 per semester) and GTEG pays $700 per academic year ($350 per semester). Eligible students taking at least six credit hours qualify for part-time Zell Miller Scholarship ($1,000 per semester) or HOPE Scholarship ($900 per semester). Log in to your GACollege411 account to check your HOPE GPA.
4. apply for SCHOLARSHIPS
Apply for as many outside scholarships as possible. Visit the External Scholarship link on the Scholarships page for more information.
