Mission: TheYoung Alumni Achievement Award is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to an alumnus or alumna of Young Harris College who has graduated within the last 15 years and has excelled in his or her career.
Mission: The Susan B. Harris Award is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to an alumna of Young Harris College who exemplifies service and dedication to her alma mater. The award is named for Susan Bevel Allen Harris (1818-1888), wife of College benefactor and namesake Judge Young L.G. Harris. The recipient of the Susan B. Harris Award is a shining example of faithful service to Young Harris College and dedication to her community and family, leading a life much like that of Susan B. Harris herself. Inscribed on the award are the following words from the epitaph of Susan B. Harris: “She was faithful in everything – to truth; to duty and to God.”
Mission: The Artemas Lester Award is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to an alumna or alumnus of Young Harris College who has dedicated his or her lifetime to ministry and a commitment for Christian service.
Mission: The Exceptional Military Service Award is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to an alumnus or alumna of Young Harris College who has served with honor and distinction in the United States military. A career in military service benefits from the YHC brand of ethics, morals and civic pride and requires a level of fortitude and sacrifice unparalleled in any other profession. The recipient must have entered military service after attending Young Harris College. His or her service may involve enlistment for Active Duty, a commission from Officer Candidate School or an ROTC program, or a Direct Commission from a post-graduate program in medicine or law. The recipient may be currently on Active Duty or retired.
Mission: The Iuventus Award is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to an alumnus or alumna of Young Harris College who has made significant contributions to the education of our youth. The Latin “Iuventus” is taken from the Young Harris College motto: Hic Iuventus Incenditur, meaning “Here Youth Are Inspired.” It is not a requirement that the recipient of this award be an educator. It must, however, be an individual who has made exemplary efforts to enlighten youth not only through empirical knowledge, but also through the education of the whole person in the tradition of Young Harris College. Highly honored among alumni, recipients of the Iuventus Award will be exemplary models of the Young Harris College experience.
Mission: The Nancy Louise Haynes Stephens Sanderson Robertson Outstanding Friend Award is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to a friend of Young Harris College (non-alumnus/na) who has dedicated his or her time, resources and energy to ensure a successful future for our alma mater.
Mission: The YHC Family of the Year Award is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to a family associated with Young Harris College in recognition of their special connection to the College. Recipients of this award should have a long-standing relationship and family history with Young Harris College, such as a legacy of YHC alumni within the family or significant support for the College through a variety of ways such as financial contributions or time of service.
Mission: The Distinguished Alumni Award for Lifetime Career Achievement is presented annually at Alumni Weekend to an alumna or alumnus of Young Harris College who has worked diligently to create a successful career following a successful foundation laid by Young Harris College.
