Men's, Women's Tennis:  Tuesday's Matches Rescheduled for Thursday
(February 8, 2010) -- Young Harris College's tennis matches against Shorter College  that were originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 9, have been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11.  The men's match will be played at Meeks Park in Blairsville.  The women's match will be played at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris.  First serve in both matches is scheduled for 1 p.m.

(February 7, 2010) -- In a battle of two highly ranked teams, Young Harris College's men's tennis team won all six singles matches in straight sets and rolled to a 9-0 victory over Gadsden State Sunday afternoon in YHC's spring season opener at Meeks Park in Blairsville, Ga. FULL STORY 

Baseball:  Young Harris 8, Southeastern 6 (Gm 1); YHC 7, SCC 4 (Gm 2)
(February 7, 2010) -- Young Harris College's Matt Lowery and Will Callaway delivered back-to-back two-run hits with two outs in the eighth inning to secure an 8-6 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Southeastern Community College Sunday afternoon in Whiteville, N.C.   Callaway's three-run double in the sixth inning of the second game keyed YHC's 7-4 win the second game and helped the Mountain Lions finish off a four-game sweep of the Rams.

Men's, Women's Tennis:  Schedule Changes For This Weekend
(February 5, 2010) -- Inclement weather is forcing Young Harris College's men's and women's tennis team to make changes to its schedule this weekend.  Both teams were scheduled to play Lincoln Memoria University Sunday, but those matches have been postponed until March 28.  The men's match against Gadsden State, originally scheduled to be played Saturday, has been rescheduled for this Sunday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. at Meeks Park in Blairsville, Ga.

Baseball:  Weather Forces Postponement of Friday's Game
(February 4, 2010) -- Young Harris College's scheduled baseball game at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, N.C., Friday has been postponed due to the threat of inclement weather.  The game will be played as part of a doubleheader Sunday at noon.  The teams are still scheduled to open the series with a noon doubleheader Saturday. 

Baseball:  Young Harris 6, Gulf Coast 5 (Tournament Championship Game)

(January 30, 2010) -- Young Harris College used a two-out rally in the fifth inning that resulted in six runs to break open a close game, and then beat back a furious comeback bid to defeat Central Alabama 11-8 Saturday and reach the championship game of the First Pitch Classic in Panama City, Fla.  FULL STORY

(January 30, 2010) -- Victoria Sink pitched a complete game and Tara Mullinax drove in the game-winning run in the sixth inning as Young Harris defeated Broward 2-1 in the first game second day of the International Women's Fastpitch Invitational in Kissimmee, Fla., Saturday and gave head coach Eric Geldart his 500th career collegiate coaching victory.  Broward defeated YHC 4-1 in an elimination game later in the day, ending the Mountain Lions' run in the tournament.

(January 29, 2010) -- Matt Lowery's bunt single in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Greg Bowder and completed an improbable comeback as Young Harris defeated No. 2 Chipola 6-5 in the first game of the season-opening First Pitch Classic, hosted by Gulf Coast College in Panama City, Fla., Friday.  FULL STORY

(January 29, 2010) -- Victoria Sink and Kelly Wright combined to throw a perfect game as Young Harris opened the 2010 season by defeating Jamaica 12-0 in the first game of the International Fastpitch Invitational in Kissimmee, Fla., Friday.  The Mountain Lions fell to Puerto Rico Red 10-4 in a game that went eight innings later in the day.  FULL STORY

(January 25, 2010) -- Young Harris College's softball team will open the 2010 season this Friday at the International Women's Fastpitch Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.

BASEBALL: PINSTRIPES TOP GRAY 37-28 IN 100-INNING GAME 
(December 4, 2009). - Young Harris College's baseball team's annual 100-Inning Game fundraiser was a huge success.  The Pinstripes defeated the Gray 37-28 Dec. 4 at Zell B. Baseball:  Six Sign NCAA Division I Letters of Intent
(November 18, 2009) - Six members of the 2010 Young Harris College baseball team have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their education and play baseball at NCAA Division I universities, beginning in the fall of 2010.  Sophomore Ben Watson, redshirt freshmen Mitchell Knox and Matt Lobacz and true freshmen Brett Armour, Brian Holmes and Cole Outz have all agreed to scholarship offers.  All but Watson will suit up for the Mountain Lions for the first time this season.  FULL STORY

Men's, Women's Tennis:  YHC Adds "Home" Match Nov. 14th
(November 9, 2009) -- Young Harris College's men's and women's tennis teams will host Spartanburg Methodist College at 11 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 14, at Towns County High School in Hiawassee.  The match will serve as the closest thing to a home match this fall, as YHC is still in the process of building a new tennis facility. 

Men's Tennis:  YHC Ranked 17th in ITA Preseason National Poll
(November 7, 2009) -- After a strong fall season in which it made its return to varsity status for the first time since the late 1990s, Young Harris College's men's tennis team has ben ranked 17th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason junior college national poll.  In addition, Laurenz Schraepen is ranked No. 20 among singles players and the doubles team of Schraepen and Jamie Childree is ranked 23rd nationally.  FULL STORY

SAAC To Host Inter-Team Competitions November 15th

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee will host the first ever SAAC competition November 15th from 3:00 to 5:00 in the Dobbs-McEachern Recreation Center.  All student-athletes will participate in this friendly competion that will purposely engage athletes from different sports to work together.  All coaches are encouraged to participate, and all students and faculty members are invited to attend.

(October 24, 2009) -- Young Harris College's baseball scrimmage Saturday against Emmanuel will begin at 2:15 p.m.  The time of the first pitch was pushed back to accommodate the men's soccer match against Gordon College that kicks off at noon.

(October 23, 2009) -- Young Harris College's men's soccer team will host an NJCAA Region XVII play-in match against South Georgia this Wednesday, October 28 at 2:30 p.m.  Admission is free.

Women's Soccer:  Gordon Match Will Not Be Rescheduled
(October 23, 2009) -- Young Harris College's women's soccer match against Gordon College that was originally scheduled to be played Thursday will not be rescheduled.  Gordon was unable to make the trip Thursday after experience trouble with its charter bus.  

Women's Soccer:  No Match Thursday
(October 22, 2009) -- Due to troubles with its charter bus, Gordon College's women's soccer team is unable to make the trip to Young Harris College for Thursday's scheduled NJCAA Region XVII match Thursday.  There is a possibility the teams could play Friday, otherwise it is unlikely the match will be played.  Check the Young Harris athletics web site (www.yhc.edu/yhcathletics) late Friday morning or early Friday afternoon to see if the match will be rescheduled.

Men's Soccer:  Mountain Lions Own Highest Ranking In McKeever Era
(October 19, 2009) -- With a 1-0 victory over Middle Georgia in its only match last week, Young Harris College's men's soccer team may move up in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America national rankings.  If it does, it will improve on its current No. 8 national ranking, the highest the team has been ranked since fifth-year head coach Mark McKeever took over the program.  FULL STORY

(October 17, 2009) -- Ellie Parton finished seventh overall to lead Young Harris College's women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Oglethorpe Invitational in Atlanta Saturday.  YHC's men's team was paced by Zach Tyler, who finished 10th in the men's race, helping the Mountain Lions to a fourth-place finish in that event.  FULL STORY 

Basketball:  Hysteria Hits Young Harris, Coaches Thrilled With Turnout

(October 15, 2009) -- Young Harris College's scheduled baseball scrimmage against Reinhardt College Thursday has been canceled due to rain.  In addition, the location of the scrimmages scheduled for this Saturday has changed.  The scrimmages will now be played at Middle Georgia College in Cochran. 

Men's Tennis:  YHC Wins Two Consolation Crowns, Advances To Two Championship Matches at CACC Invitational
Two weeks after taking Alexander City, Ala., by storm at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Southeastern Regional, Young Harris College's men's team went back to Alexander City for the Central Alabama Invitational October 9-11.  The return trip was almost impressive as the first.  FULL STORY

Women's Soccer:  Saturday's Match Canceled
(October 10, 2009) -- Young Harris College's women's soccer match against Monroe Community College, scheduled to be played today, was canceled due to flooding in the St. Louis area, according to YHC head coach Kathy Brown.  The match will not be rescheduled.  YHC is scheduled to return to action Monday at 4 p.m., against Georgia Military College at the YHC Soccer Field.

Bruce Sibley has been named head men's tennis coach at Young Harris College, YHC Athletics Director Eric Geldart announced.  Sibley will also serve as the school's strength and conditioning coach.  FULL STORY
