Coach Widing will begin his first season as the pitching coach for the Mountain Lions. Widing played for Young Harris from 2003-05, helping the Mountains Lions get to the District Championships in both 2003 and 2005. He sat out his sophomore season due to having reconstructive elbow surgery, better known as Tommy John surgery, Widing had a successful recovery and earned the opportunity to play Division 1 baseball at Charleston Southern University (Charleston, SC). Widing spent this past summer instructing at The Young Harris College Summer Camps and The Citadel Baseball Camps.
Widing excelled in baseball at East Paulding High School, as he was a three-year starter for the school. On the diamond, Widing was twice named Defensive Player of the Year for Head Coach Ronnie Green. He was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 2002 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
Widing holds an Associate of Sciences degree from Young Harris College and a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Charleston Southern University.
