Hornsby Commits to Tennessee

Michael Hornsby (Carrollton, Ga) made his verbal commitment early this fall to play for the University of Tennessee. The 6’0,” 180 pound middle infielder had plenty of options, but felt UT was the best place to further his academic and athletic career. He heads to a program rich in tradition, having won 3 Southeastern Conference (SEC) championships, and made its most recent College World Series appearance in 2005.

As a freshman, Hornsby hit .340, with fifteen doubles, two homeruns, and swiped fifteen bases. Michael also set the school record for hit by pitches in a single season with seventeen. He played in every game as a freshman.

"I am very excited for Micheal. He has worked very hard, in the classroom and on the baseball field, to turn himself into a SEC type player. I am glad he will have the opportunity to compete at the highest level of college baseball once he leaves Young Harris College." - Coach Robinson
