Holidays

The College observes the following paid holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) and Christmas, as well as additional days designated by the President. If a holiday falls on a weekend day, it is usually observed on the preceding Friday or the following Monday. The annual Holiday Schedule will be announced near the beginning of each year.

All non-Exempt Employees on the active payroll when a holiday occurs will be eligible for holiday pay. There is no minimum service requirement. Holiday pay will be calculated based on the Employee's straight-time pay rate as of the date of the holiday times the number of hours the Employee would have otherwise worked on that day. Holiday pay is not counted for the purpose of calculating an Employee's overtime hours of work or overtime premiums.

If Employees are required to work on a designated holiday, they will receive straight-time pay for hours worked on the holiday. If a holiday occurs during a vacation period, the Employee will be granted one additional day of vacation, to be taken at a time approved in advance by the Employee's Supervisor.

Employees receiving short or long term disability payments, Workers' Compensation benefits or any other Employees not on the active payroll will not be eligible for holiday pay except during waiting periods of the first seven calendar days of absence for Workers' Compensation and the first 30 calendar days for short-term or long-term disability.
