Thanks for visiting www.yhc.edu. I am excited that you are interested in learning more about our College and invite you to browse through our pages. From the YHC Catalog, found in the pages of the Provost to the pages of the four divisions on campus, to the activities available to you after classes, you will find many items of interest. Whether you are interested in theatre, history, or chemistry, or a multitude of other areas, you will find that Young Harris College is able to provide the educational stimulus you are looking for in a college.
Young Harris College was established in 1886 by a circuit riding Methodist minister named Artemas Lester. He believed in the Wesleyan tradition of a trained mind and a warm heart, a sentiment that we still believe in today. The faculty, staff, and administration are interested in you as a person in addition to your success as a student. The philosophy behind a liberal arts education is one of educating the whole person, intellectually, socially, culturally, and spiritually. We challenge students to do more than just process information – rather, we ask them to think in terms of how their contributions to society can help to make a better world.
For more than one hundred and twenty years Young Harris College has been in the business of educating students who have gone on to become leaders in the state of Georgia. Our student body has grown to encompass students from all 50 states and many foreign countries. Our alums have become bishops, statesmen, governors, entertainers, and congressmen. Indeed, we look forward to many more of our graduates becoming leaders of the future. Come on the journey with us as we help to shape the future!
