YHC Outdoor Adventures

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Young Harris College students can spend every weekend outdoors and never do the same thing twice. Fishing, camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming—there are endless ways to find fun and fresh air. As part of the YHC Outdoor Adventures program, students are familiarizing themselves with their home in the north Georgia mountains.

 

YHC Campout

Date: Friday, September 5, 2014
Time: Fun starts at 8:30 pm 
Description: Bring your tent, sleeping bag, or hammock and camp out with all of your friends on the YHC Lawn! We’ll also have a camp fire and cooking contest. 
Registration: None Required – just show up!

 

Appalachian Trail Maintenance

Date: Saturday, Sept. 20
Time: Shuttle leaves campus at 9:00 a.m.
Description: Come help preserve the nation’s longest trail. There will be jobs for every ability level.  
Registration Cost: Free 
Registration Deadline: Thursday, Sept. 18 at 12:00 p.m.
 

Full Moon Hike

Date: Friday, Oct. 17, 2014
Time: Shuttle time TBD (evening)
Description: Hike under the starts by the light of the moon.  
Registration Cost: Free
Registration Deadline: RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 16 at 12:00 p.m. for shuttle. Anyone can just show up to carpool. 
 

Off Campus Campout

Date: Friday, Oct. 24 – Saturday, Oct. 25
Time: TBD
Description: Ever wanted to go pitch a tent in the woods and camp under the stars, but not sure of what all it entails. Come with YHC Outdoor Adventures and learn the basics of camping. We’ll also be hiking and doing other activities around the campsite. Some gear provided. Must attend the pre-trip meeting to attend (date/time TBD).   
Registration Cost: $10
Registration Deadline: RSVP by Friday, Oct. 17 at noon for shuttle. Anyone can just show up to carpool. 
 

Zombie Mud Run

Date: Saturday, Nov.1
Time: Shuttle leaves YHC at 8:30 a.m.
Description: You’ll be a zombie or a human and run through obstacles and mud. Zombies try to “eat” humans and humans try to evade zombies to win. 
Registration Cost: $40 
Registration Deadline: Friday, Oct. 24 at 12:00 p.m.
