Organization Awards

YHC recognizes and highlights exemplary performances by student organizations and their individual members. Special awards are presented at the annual Honors Ceremony held in April.

Outstanding Organization of the Year

2012-2014 Recipient: Inter-Religious Council

The Outstanding Organization of the Year award is given to the recognized campus organization that served as a role model to other organizations in the areas of community service, on-campus involvement, leadership, unity and teamwork amongst members and other organizations. The recipient will be the student organization that best accomplished their goals, organized and took part in campus events, followed campus policies and procedures, and displayed campus unity and community. This exceptional organization will be chosen by a committee of selected faculty and staff members. Any recognized campus organization may apply for this award. This award is presented at the annual YHC Honors Ceremony.

Greek Organizations Academic Awards

2013-2014 Recipient: Alpha Omega Fraternity and Phi Alpha Phi Sorority

Each of these academic awards are given to the top brotherhood and sisterhood organizations having the highest cumulative group grade point average.

CAB Member of the Year Award

2013-2014 Recipient: Ashley Eschbach

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) Member of the Year is based on the member’s commitment and enthusiasm to the overall operation of CAB. The award is chosen by an anonymous vote of CAB members and is presented at the annual YHC Honors Ceremony.

SGA Member of the Year Award

2013-2014 Recipient: Zachary Champion

The Student Government Association (SGA) Member of the Year is chosen by current SGA members and is based on enthusiasm and devotion to the Student Government Association.

Greek Service Award

2013-2014 Recipients: Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Sigma Beta Sigma Sorority

The Greek organization that has completed the most service hours for the semester is given this award, which showcases the goal of the Greek community to honor service as a characteristic of Greek Life.

Outstanding Christian Service Award

2013-2014 Recipient: C.J. Fellows

The Outstanding Christian Service Award was created by the Inter-Religious Council at Young Harris College to recognize a student whose Christian service and leadership have been exemplary.

Corn Creek Review Literary Awards

The Corn Creek Review holds an annual competition for the best poetry and artwork in its pages. Support for The Corn Creek Review literary awards is given in loving memory of Danny Bearse ’79, by his aunt, Ms. Jo Bearse.
