The State of Georgia requires that all post-secondary institutions provide information about bacterial meningitis to first-year students who will be living in residence halls. Therefore, the Acknowledgement of Receipt of Meningitis Information form is required as proof that the information has been received and reviewed.
For more information, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
Students who will be living in the residence halls are encouraged to get the meningitis vaccination prior to moving on campus. The Georgia Public Health Department will administer the Meningitis vaccine for a nominal fee to Georgia resident students 18 years old and under. The cost is more if the student is 19 years or older.
We ask all students and their parents to review the Meningitis on Campus Information Sheet and submit the Acknowledgement of Meningitis Information Form prior to beginning their first term at Young Harris College. Parents must sign the form if the student is under 18 years old.
Students who would like to receive the meningitis vaccine after arrival on campus or those who wish to make arrangements for the Towns County Health Department to order and administer the vaccine should contact Health and Wellness Services or indicate this desire on the Acknowledgement Form.
