“Rock the Dome II” Planetarium Show Comes to YHC
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — The O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at Young Harris College will host “Rock the Dome II” on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and again on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The planetarium is housed in the Maxwell Center for Mathematics and Sciences on the YHC campus, which is located at 1 College St., Young Harris, Georgia. Each planetarium show costs $5 for adults, $3 for children and is free for YHC students, faculty and staff.
With a mix of classic rock selections from the late 1960s through the 1990s, “Rock the Dome II” features vignettes of the sights and sounds that symbolize the evolution of rock history. Full-dome, high-resolution computer animation is used to paint the planetarium dome, sending the audience whirling on animated flights through space and realistic landscapes surrounded by spinning, abstract art—all set to classic rock music from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, U2 and more.
“Rock the Dome II” is a cosmic concert, which is a non-astronomy show containing loud music, flashing lights, spinning stars and other effects that some may find disruptive.
Planetarium tickets may be purchased in advance at yhc.edu/planetarium. For more information about the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium, please call (706) 379-5195.
