Beighley, Hale Present Gift to YHC for Student Scholarships
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Young Harris College recently received a generous donation on behalf of Phi Delta sorority from alumna Melanie Beighley, ’79, and her mother, Barbara Hale, former YHC professor of education and advisor for Phi Delta sorority. Hale’s late husband, James Hale, Ph.D., served YHC as a history and psychology professor, dean of students and Phi Chi fraternity advisor prior to his retirement.
The James and Barbara Hale Endowed Scholarship Fund was established to assist the financial needs of deserving students pursuing a degree at YHC. Since its creation, family and friends of the Hales have contributed to the scholarship fund to support the Hale’s life-long commitment to education and the power education has to better the lives of individuals and society.
