Support YHC’s Local Scholarship Campaign at The Big Dance
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Back by popular demand, Young Harris College will present The Big Dance on Friday, April 26. Community members are invited to dance the night away while raising scholarship funds for more than 200 students from eight surrounding counties: Fannin, Gilmer, Pickens, Rabun, Towns and Union counties in Georgia, and Cherokee and Clay counties in North Carolina. The Big Dance will take place in the Recreation and Fitness Center on YHC’s campus, which is located at 1 College St., Young Harris, Georgia. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and live music begins at 7:30 p.m.
The Grapevine, a band based in Macon, Georgia, will provide music for the evening. Since 1987, the award-winning band has electrified audiences across the Southeast. The Grapevine has a diverse repertoire with styles that include Motown, R&B, beach music, pop, rock and more. They are previous recipients of the prestigious “Band of the Year” title awarded by the Atlanta Society of Entertainers.
Guests can bring their own meals and beverages to enjoy or choose from a number of dining packages provided by the College. Patrons may order dining packages until Monday, April 22.
All attendees are encouraged to participate in a free table-decorating contest, with the winner receiving a complimentary table at the next dance. This year’s theme, “Blast from the Past,” invites participants to remember their favorite bands, dances or decades. Tables will be 60-inch rounds. Note that decorations cannot include balloons, glitter or lit candles.
Sponsorships are available for the event with varying benefits packages. Tables for eight are available for $250, and individual tickets are available for $50.
