Young Harris College to Present Concert Band Concert

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Young Harris College Concert Band and the Young Harris College Community Band will present a “Collage of Classics” on Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Suber Banquet Hall of the Rollins Campus Center on the YHC campus. Admission is $5 for adults and free for students and children 12 and under.

Featuring music from composers like Modest Mussorgsky, Matt Conaway, Charles Carter, Chris Pilsner and John Philip Sousa, members of the Young Harris College Community Band and Concert Band will join forces to provide an evening of musical stylings from an array of instruments.

Under the direction of Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Mary Land, the Young Harris College Concert Band gives woodwind, brass and percussion players ample opportunities to perform a wide repertory of wind band literature ranging from traditional to contemporary.

Under the direction of Adjunct Instructor of Music Kerry Rittenhouse, the Young Harris College Community Band provides an opportunity for local musicians to perform quality musical literature, serves as an educational resource for area schools and presents several free concerts every year for the residents of Young Harris, Ga., and surrounding areas. The group is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
