Email Mr. Bennett

Jake Bennett grew up in Ellijay, Georgia, where he has lived for most of his life. However, he has frequented the Towns County area throughout his life and spent countless summers with his family on Lake Chatuge.

After graduating from Gilmer County High School in 2012, Jake attended Young Harris College from which he graduated in 2016 with his B.A. in Art. In September of 2017, he finished his MA in Art Gallery and Museum Studies at the University of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. It was while he was working on his degree, he enjoyed studying the 1992-2012 Documenta Exhibitions at Kassel, Germany, under the well-known feminist philosopher and art historian Griselda Pollock. Due to his interest in feminist philosophy and criticism, Jake researched and wrote his Master’s Thesis on feminist narratives surrounding Marchesa Luisa Casati, Doris Castlerosse, Peggy Guggenheim, and the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni in Venice, Italy.

Jake is a practicing artist and, although he enjoys practicing in a wide variety of mediums, he primarily prefers painting portraits in acrylic. In his spare time, Jake likes to travel abroad, read Modernist novels and memoirs, and enjoys visiting art museums.
