Dr. Claudie Massicotte specializes in the history of psychoanalysis, literary theory, and the Victorian occult. She earned her MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Montreal and her Ph.D. in Theory and Criticism from The University of Western Ontario. Dr. Massicotte has notably published on Freud in Psychoanalytic Dialogues and on artistic representations of the unconscious in the Canadian Journal of Film Studies and the Canadian Art Review. Her monograph, Trance Speakers: Femininity and Authorship in Spiritual Seances, 1850-1930, was published by McGill-Queen’s University Press in 2017. She joined the Young Harris College faculty in 2015, after completing postdoctoral research sponsored by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada with The University of California, Los Angeles. Her other interests include a passion for her four little dogs and a love of teaching, reading, and traveling.
