Dr. Whisenhunt holds a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College, an M.A. from The Florida State University and a Ph.D. from The University of Alabama. She has also studied Italian at The University of Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy. Dr. Eloise Whisenhunt's areas of interest include Modernism and textual studies with a particular interest in the poetry of Marianne Moore. Her current research has focused on the late-modern novelist, poet, actor, puppeteer and all around recounter, Eugene Walter. He is an Alabama native who spent most of the late 1940s, 1950s and 1960s in Europe, and Dr. Whisenhunt is currently researching a book on Walter's time in Rome, Italy. When not reading or grading papers, Dr. Whisenhunt enjoys hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains with her family and playing “dog-house” bass in a local band, Cornbread Ted and the Butterbeans.
