Dr. Leigh Miller and Dr. Richard Knepp to Present Faculty Artist Recital at Young Harris College

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.— Young Harris College’s Division of Fine Arts will present a Faculty Artist Recital on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Susan B. Harris Chapel on the YHC campus. The recital is free and open to the public.

Featuring Assistant Professor of Music Leigh Miller, D.M.A., clarinet, and Assistant Professor of Music and Music Department Chair Richard Knepp, D.M.A., guitar, the recital will consist of an evening of enchanting music for clarinet and guitar including performances of works by composers Manuel de Falla, Ferdinand Rebay, Maurice Ravel and Carl Maria von Weber.

The performance will also include special duets with Adjunct Instructor of Music Alan Denmom, bass clarinet, accompanied on piano by Staff Accompanist Anita Guss.

Dr. Knepp and Dr. Miller toured the midwest last April, performing clarinet and guitar duo recitals in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee. 

Dr. Miller received her bachelor of music degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, before earning master of music and doctor of musical arts degrees from The Ohio State University (OSU). Her primary teachers have included James M. Pyne and Kim Ellis. While at OSU, Dr. Miller received the prestigious University Fellowship Award and served as a graduate teaching associate for the clarinet studio.

Dr. Richard Knepp received his bachelor's degree from Georgia College and State University and completed his master's degree at Georgia State University. He received his doctorate from the University of Georgia under the direction of acclaimed guitar instructor John Sutherland. He has also performed in masterclasses with some of the world’s leading classical guitarists, including Scott Tenant, Antigoni Goni, and Pepe Romero.
