Young Harris College Center for Appalachian Studies and Community Engagement to Host Special Patsy Cline Tribute Concert
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College’s Center for Appalachian Studies and Community Engagement will present “Walking after Midnight: A Tribute to Patsy Cline” starring Carter Calvert on Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in Susan B. Harris Chapel on the YHC campus. This free event that is open to the public aims to keep Appalachian musical history relevant in modern-day Appalachia.
Often reviewed for her six-star smoldering voice, Calvert is best known for originating her role in the Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical “It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues” alongside Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter. She is featured on the cast recording and starred in the show’s national tour.
Her other tours include the title role in “Always Patsy Cline” opposite Sally Struthers, the featured role of Grizabella in the Broadway national touring company of “Cats,” the European tour of “Smokey Joe’s Café,” and an international tour of Neil Berg’s “100 Years of Broadway.”
This past year, Calvert has been touring the globe as a headliner on the prestigious Crystal Cruise line as well headlining in clubs and theaters across the country.
