Young Harris College Presents Black History Month Lecture Series
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College’s History Department will present two special lectures in honor of Black History Month on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and Wednesday, Feb. 22, and 6 p.m. in the Wilson Lecture Hall of the Goolsby Center on the YHC campus. The lectures are free and open to the public.
On Wednesday, Feb. 15, YHC’s Associate Professor of History Thomas Stearns, Ph.D., will present a lecture entitled “Pies and Quilts: Unsung Ladies of the Civil Rights Movement.” Dalton State University’s Tammy K. Byron, Ph.D., will present “Somewhere a Real Bible: African American Slaves and Christian Religious Instruction in the Antebellum South” the following week on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
This inaugural lecture series celebrates African American contributions to America’s past.
