  • Do all freshmen have to live in The Towers?

    Answered By

    JULIE ROBERSON
    Mathematics

Freshmen don’t have to live in The Towers, but I wanted to. It’s a brand new co-ed residence hall designed for freshmen to get involved. Living in The Towers has pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to create lasting friendships. Even though it’s not a requirement, I strongly encourage all freshmen to live there.

  • Is there Greek life on campus?

Yes! YHC currently has both national and local sororities and fraternities on campus. Greek life enriches the college experience inside and outside the classroom. Especially at a smaller campus, Greek life provides excellent leadership, scholarship, service and social opportunities. I became involved during my freshman year when I joined Kappa Sigma and it was one of the best decisions of my life. My fraternity allowed me to be instantly connected on campus.

As a senior, I’m very involved on campus. There are plenty of organizations, clubs, societies and Greek groups for you to join. Also, if YHC doesn’t have the club you want, you are encouraged to create your own. We have recently had students start up an ultimate Frisbee team, Equestrian Club, and fly fishing team—and those are just a few of our newest offerings. We also have intramural sports throughout the year. The opportunities to be involved on campus are endless. All you have to do is look for them.

  • When do students have to declare a major?

    SARAH BETH TANKERSLEY
    Psychology

When I first came to YHC, I had an idea of what I wanted to study but I wasn’t positive yet. I spent the duration of my freshman year taking a wide variety of subjects and exploring my options. During my sophomore year, I decided to declare psychology as my major. Three years later, I’m now looking into graduate programs to further my education in this field.

  • Can you tell me more about campus safety?

    Answered By

    IVEY FRANKLIN
    Business and Public Policy

There’s a Police Department on campus located on the main level of the Manget residence hall. Officers are on duty 24/7 to ensure students’ safety. At night, I always feel safe walking on campus. There’s adequate lighting and I always seem to run into someone I know since our campus is so small and everyone knows each other. Also, the police know all of us and they are present at every event on campus or continuously patrolling the campus.
