Dr. Kevin Geyer joined the YHC faculty in 2019. Dr. Geyer has teaching and research interests in the areas of ecology and environmental sciences such as climate change, soil and microbial ecology, and lake/stream ecology. Dr. Geyer has published research on his explorations of climate and environmental effects on soils from around the U.S. Midwest, New England, and Antarctica. Since arriving at Young Harris College, he has taught introductory biology courses as well as upper-level Biological Research Methods, Invertebrate Zoology, Ecology, Biosphere Sciences, and Global Change Biology. He also serves as the Director of the YHC Honors Program to provide enriching research and classroom opportunities for the college’s Honors members. Dr. Geyer appreciates YHC students’ engagement with their instructors and peers, and eagerness to learn new skills in the classroom, laboratory, and outdoors. In his free time, Dr. Geyer is traveling, reading history and fiction, cooking, and exploring beautiful southern Appalachia.
