Author, performer, music historian and radio host Fred Bartenstein will present a lecture on his recent book, Bluegrass Bluesman: Josh Graves, A Memoir at Young Harris College on Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium on the YHC campus. Well-known musicians Wyatt Rice and Frank Poindexter will demonstrate some of Josh Graves’s music and lead an open bluegrass jam for all interested musicians following the lecture. The event is free and open to the public.
Two events that afternoon will precede the lecture. At 3 p.m., Wyatt Rice will lead a flatpicking guitar demonstration in Room 115 of the Clegg Fine Arts Center on campus. At 4 p.m., Bartenstein will lead a roundtable discussion on bluegrass music, also in Room 115.
The YHC Center for Appalachian Studies and Community Engagement is sponsoring these events as part of its annual series highlighting Appalachian history and culture.
