At Young Harris College, we believe strongly that the college orientation experience should include as much of the student's family as possible. While any orientation will naturally focus on the students and what they should expect in the next phase of their academic and social lives, we make every effort to help parents and siblings understand how sending a child off to school will impact their own lives.
We encourage family members to attend orientation with their student. This optional one-day program runs concurrently with the student program and concludes early that evening. Sessions throughout the day provide information to help those closest to the student better understand YHC and the college experience as a whole. The program highlights services available, academic expectations and gives family members a chance to get all their questions answered.
Overnight accommodations for family members are not available on campus. There is a wide array of lodging to choose from when you visit.
Registration for Family Orientation is completed online as part of the student’s orientation registration process. Changes can be made by contacting the Student Development Office.
