Campus police services

Young Harris College maintains a force of state-certified police officers who provide law enforcement, crime prevention and parking control/enforcement. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officers patrol the campus via marked patrol units and foot patrol to deter acts of crime and to detect and intervene when criminal activity occurs.

In addition to patrol duties, officers:

  • Provide limited motorist assistance
  • Enforce campus parking and traffic regulations
  • Support campus activities and events

Security and fire safety report

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, more commonly known as the Clery Act, requires colleges and universities to publish an annual report by Oct. 1 of each year that contains the previous three years of campus crime and fire safety statistics along with certain policies pertaining to campus safety and security.

Disclosure of crime and fire statistics

Crime and fire statistics are compiled by the Student Development Office in cooperation with the YHC Police Department, Office of Residence Life, and relevant state and local agencies. Information from the previous year’s report is available within the Guide to Student Life, which is distributed to each student at the beginning of the semester in which he or she enrolled.

A digital copy of the report can be accessed below and a paper copy may be requested by contacting the Student Development Office. Additionally, campus security data are collected by the U.S. Department of Education and published online.
