Recreation

Recreation is a huge part of life at YHC, with a campus located in the southern Appalachian Mountains, nestled between the Chattahoochee, Cherokee and Nantahala national forests.

Students have immediate access to rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking, canoeing and other exciting outdoor opportunities. The Appalachian Trail is only 15 minutes from campus, and a short drive leads to stunning mountain peaks, exhilarating whitewater rivers, and crystal-clear lakes.

Back on campus, students are highly encouraged to join a club sport like the hiking club or stay active on campus by playing intramural sports like volleyball, softball and dodgeball.

The state-of-the-art Recreation and Fitness Center boasts more than 59,000 square feet of invigorating, energizing, action-packed space. The two-level, LEED-certified facility features a first-class, fully equipped weight room and fitness center, an elevated indoor jogging track and an 1,100-purple-seat arena, home to the men’s and women’s Mountain Lion basketball teams. Recharge in a group fitness class or dare to take on the 37-foot-high rock climbing wall.

No matter what your recreational interests may be, YHC has it, so you can get moving, stay fit, and have fun with friends.
