Biology degree requirements

To graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from YHC, you’ll take 120 hours of coursework.

General Education:

31 hours, including CHEM 1211 and MATH 1113

Electives:

44 hours, a maximum of two PALS (Physically Active Life Skills) courses may be used as general electives

BIOL 3501 Microbiology:

This course surveys microorganisms, emphasizing bacteria and viruses, and includes classification, evolution, cytology, genetics, physiology, ecology, and laboratory techniques.

BIOL 3301 General botany:

Students learn evolutionary patterns of development in vegetative and reproductive organs, as well as laboratory techniques.

biol 3801 Vertebrate zoology:

Students learn methods of collecting, preserving, and identifying vertebrates through the laboratory, which includes field trips to local sites with distinctive biodiversity.
