YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – As part of the upcoming Young Harris College High School Honor Band Clinic, YHC will host three concerts that are free and open to the public. The first is a guest concert by the Ringgold High School Wind Symphony on Friday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 19, the YHC Concert Band and Brass Choir will perform at 12:30 p.m. and the YHC High School Honor Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. All three concerts will take place in Glenn~McGinnis Hall on the YHC campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582.

The YHC High School Honor Band Clinic is a two-day event for serious high school woodwind, brass and percussion instrumentalists in grades 10-12. Students are nominated for the clinic by their high school band directors. They are ranked in sections according to directors’ recommendations.

“The YHC High School Honor Band Clinic is designed to give talented high school band students a world-class musical performance experience by working with a renowned conductor, hearing one of the best high school band programs in Georgia (the Ringgold High School Wind Symphony), and of course, enjoying our own amazing YHC Concert Band,” said YHC Director of Bands Dr. Kerry Bryant. “The intense two-day event allows potential YHC instrumental music majors to imagine themselves actually being at YHC as we host them in this beautiful setting—it’s a feast for the eyes and ears!”

Sixteen high schools will participate in the 2019 YHC High School Honor Band Clinic, including Fannin County, Gilmer County, Hayesville, Lumpkin County, Rabun Gap Nacoochee, Towns County and Union County.
